Single Order Generic Ethernet
Access (SOGEA)

Future-proof broadband solution for better connectivity

Get in Touch

In the biggest disruption to telecommunications in decades, the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) services will be switched off by December 2025. A Stop-Sell of these services is scheduled for 2023, with a Stop-Sell for early adoption exchanges taking effect from July 2021. Why? Openreach can no longer support the ageing PSTN network which uses analogue services. This means that all Wholesale Line Rental (WLR) based broadband services will no longer work.

The future of broadband is SOGEA

The future is data only, single order broadband such as Single Order Generic Ethernet Access (SOGEA). This replaces traditional broadband based on the PSTN service and means you do not have to install a traditional copper phone line to compliment the service. This is ideal for those that want a broadband service without an analogue telephone line attached. However, if you want to make and receive phone calls, we can overlay a single-user voice service that resides in the cloud.

Why SOGEA?

SOGEA provides faster, more reliable connectivity than Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) broadband, meaning users can do more online, without worrying about buffering. With a single order connectivity product, you’ll not only benefit from the speeds and reliability your business depends upon, but you’ll also be able to equip your business for the future. Daisy is one of the early adopters of SOGEA, and we want to make this switch as smooth as possible for you as you embark on this crucial journey.
 Why SOGEA?

Benefits of SOGEA

Future-proof connectivity to prepare for the PSTN withdrawal

Download bandwidth of up to 80Mbps with greater stability than ADSL

More cost-effective compared to having WLR + Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) broadband

Faults can be resolved quickly with one single order

Quicker to install and easier to manage

How SOGEA works

SOGEA technology is based on the current FTTC set up. Fibre technology is used from the local Exchange to the PCP (green street cabinet) and then copper from the PCP to the premises.
